Had a chance a few weekends back to shoot some "Grunge" at the Knysna Oyster festival.

I realised the other day I haven't uploaded any of my new work. I have a backlog of images and designs I will be updating this site with within the next few days.

Started working at a point of purchase company called Todwil around the beginning of the year. They gave me an option of what I wanted to do here and I chose to go into the technical side of things. Turns out Daja vu has a sense of humor and is hell bent on proving it. Just like all my previous ignorant, uninformed decision made since going into design, this was unknowingly the most challenging route I could choose...fml

Was asked to design a drinks tray for Jack Daniel's. It was a bit of a rush as I only had the afternoon but I liked the end result.

The below CG images were creted to illustrate location and design of the Crystal Towers Bridge which is to connect the hotel to the shopping center.

Temp business card

A business card I put together for my freelancing work. The details on the card are vague but I would have had to print more if it was any more specific. I use this card to give out details for my photography, graphic design and 3D modeling.

This was a 2 sided print. No special printing was used.

Portfolio updates

This is more of an update on a previous project posted on this site. http://ricqua.blogspot.com/2009/04/forest-lodge.html

The Forest Lodge required two new light fittings for the walkway and public areas. I was given the brief to design and prototype concepts for these areas. The first one I designed was the double headed uplighter which was used on the side of the pillars to light the underside of the walkway roof.

This is a close up render of the double headed uplighter concept done in 3ds max.
These are the photos of the final prototype for the double headed uplighter.

The second light fitting was the can pendant which gets suspended from the underside of the roof to light the walkway. The below images are just renders of the concept. The 3D model was constructed and rendered in Solid Works.

Enlightened mushroom o_O

An A4 sketch of a mining mushroom finding a glowing object. Trying to create a 3D model of this character in a scene. Needed to sketch it to get and idea of proportion.

3D model - Bedroom Interior & Bathroom

Another 3D model for work.  This is the proposed bedroom interior/architecture of a house under construction in Sea Point.  I have generated other models for this house in the past (see further down page).

Fun gi's

While on a weekend away I created these three gi's.  Each represents one of the people with us that weekend.  Considering creating a character for everyone when I get a chance :)

Photography: Smuts Hall (UCT)

Did a photoshoot of Smuts Hall at UCT.  The company I'm working for did the lighting upgrades and now the light is punching through the windows spilling all the colours of the stained glass windows onto the underside of the roof.

Floating table

Another work related 3D model. This one is for the house I’m busy working on at the base of Lions Head.  The purpose of this 3D model was to compare the two lighting concepts to each other.  Optic fibers in the slab of the table and L.E.D's underneath to enhance the floating effect.
